[A] MASS COMMUNICATION: Academic programmes in this discipline producing graduates that will work for and manage media institutions with the required skills. (A) AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS:- The broad objective of the programme is to provide graduates with requisite knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable them to apply relevant economic principles to the real life problems of Nigerian Agriculture.

(F) CROP SCIENCE: concerned with the selection, improvement and production of crops useful to man. It addresses the planting, maintenance, protection, harvesting,storage and aspects of post-harvest handling of produce. The programme is designed to provide a broad practical and theoretical training in the basic agricultural sciences for the first three years. During the fourth year practical training is provided in approved farms and agro-based establishments. (I) RELIGION AND CULTURAL STUDIES. The programme emphasizes the application of religious truths to the cultural environment of Africa. (J) COMBINED SOCIAL SCIENCE: A programme that awards a combined degree in the disciplines of social sciences. The combinations available include among others political science/geography, religion/philosophy, economics/political science, economics/philosophy, e.t.c. entry requirements: five credits including both subjects relevant to the courses to combine.
17. FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY.
(A) MEDICAL REHABILITATION: course duration is five years. Medical rehabilitation deals in physical medicine known as physiatry. It is a branch of medicine that aims to restoring and enhancing functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities such as injuries to the ligaments or nervous system, muscles, bones. A specialist in this field is known as a physiatrist. With the recent proposed adjustment of programme by the University of Nigeria the programme may now be six years with a graduate in this field being a Doctor of physiatry. Entry requirements: five credits including English, Mathematics Chemistry,,Biology and physics. UME SUBJECT COMBINATION: English Language, Chemistry,Biology and Physics or Mathematics.
(B) MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE: course duration is five years. Involves knowledge of the central role laboratory investigation of components of biological fluids, secretions, excretions, tissues,or organs play in the diagnosis, management and prognosis of disease state. Intensive areas include Clinical Chemistry,Haematology, Medical Microbiology, Histopathology and immunology and instrumentation and pharmacology. *job opportunities* laboratory and diagnostic centres, hospitals and clinical centres, ministries of health, regulatory agencies like NAFDAC e.t.c. (C) MEDICAL RADIOGRAPHY AND RADIOLOGY: An indispensable field of medicine that includes the use of ionizing radiation including x-ray technology and other forms of radiation energy in the diagnosis, management and treatment of human diseases. (D) NURSING SCIENCE: Course duration is five years. Nursing is a profession within the health care and medical sector that focus on the care of individuals, families and communities so they may attain, maintain, recover optimal health and quality of life.
Areas of specialization include community health nursing, maternal and child health nursing, mental health and physiatric nursing,medical surgical nursing, nursing administration and management, and nursing education. *entry requirements* five credits including English, Biology, Chemistry,Physics and Mathematics. 18. *FACULTY OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY*:- course duration is six years. The study of medicine and surgery prepares students for a successful and efficient career in all spheres of medicine including academic research, general and specialist patient care, and administration. The programme covers the following field of medicine: anatomy, anaesthesia, radiation medicine, community medicine, clinical pathology,chemical pathology,surgery,dermatology, hermathology,medical biochemistry,medical microbiology, morbid anatomy,obstetrics and gynecology,opthalmogy,otolaryngology,pediatrics,pharmacology, therapeutics medicine,physiology and physiological medicine. Just like Dentistry for students to qualify for the MBBS degree offered by the faculty of medicine and surgery they must passed the five professional examinations to be written at different intervals. *Entry requirements* five credits including English, Biology,Chemistry,Physics and Mathematics.
